These impressive town homes are easy to spot in their West Seattle neighborhood off Fauntleroy Way. Located behind existing single-family homes, these two duplex buildings host four 1,600 s.f. townhomes.
The goal of this project was to bring modernity and dignity to alley entry units. The informality of the alley entry is countered with symmetrical facades and a semipublic porch and sidewalk. The interior is filled with light due to an open-plan 20’ wide living level that showcases a custom-built heavy timber open-riser stair. The central stair is expressed on the exterior with a clear-story dormer filling the interior with light.
Traditional materials are used in unique ways throughout, making the project competitive for first time buyers.
