This project was the initial tenant improvement for a ground-level retail space in the Masin’s building in Bellevue. It was to serve as the prototype for this spa-like tanning salon. A hardwood and granite reception counter sits on bamboo floors. A Dale Chihuly glass sculpture is suspended from a shaped drywall cloud. Specialty lighting and no ceilings are used throughout to highlight the materials and the art. Tanning rooms are well appointed with woven mats and stained concrete floors. The rooms themselves are actually high-end office partitions used to accommodate the changing requirements of the tanning beds.
Once the Masin building was completed, a second site was secured at Redmond Town Center. The design prototype was fine-tuned and implemented, complete with more Dale Chihuly glass sculptures to welcome patrons.
